Members are actively involved in art on local, regional, and national levels and include nationally recognized painters and Signature Members of renowned artists' societies. Juried membership is by sponsored invitation only and limited to 25 members of intermediate and above skill level. The group meets weekly to encourage and support one another in strengthening their individual visions for their art. Members are given many learning opportunities including workshops with nationally known teachers, monthly critiques, discussions, and creative activities. Active member participation is the key to the group’s success. Chelsea Painters showcase their collective works in an annual Art Fair on the grounds of Chelsea Community Hospital the first full Saturday and Sunday in June. The group also provides its members other venues for exhibiting their art including such places as Chelsea Center for the Arts, Ella Sharp Museum, UM Power Center among others. • Chelsea Writers' Workshop
    Chelsea Area

Founded in the spring of 2006, the Chelsea Writers' Workshop is a group of creative writers who meet every other Saturday morning throughout the spring and fall. During the summer we hold special events, seminars, and open mic readings. Our writers write novels, short stories, creative nonfiction, memoirs, poetry, drama, flash fiction, children's books, and some other things not so easily defined. Each Saturday, three writers have their work critiqued by the others. Once each season, a published author joins us to lead the critique and answer our questions on writing, publishing, getting an agent, and other topics of interest. Our members are over 18, computer savvy (submissions are uploaded to a group site) and serious about writing. Some of us have won contests and writing awards. BUT, we also encourage writers who have never workshopped before to join us for useful feedback, sharing of information about writing, moral support, and general hilarity!
